William C. Kavanek of Bridgewater began a successful career as a full time artist in 1978, specializing in marine art. He was a charter member of the American Society of Marine Artists and chose to participate in its National shows. He won the Artistic Merit Award in 2004 for representing the standard of excellence in contemporary marine art in its 13th exhibition. He also won awards in many local art associations. He specialized in depicting ships, shores, creeks, rivers and bays of the Chesapeake Bay area in Maryland.
The present exhibit includes a variety of subjects, including a painting of an outhouse on his property in Bridgewater, painted in all four seasons.
Another highlight of the show is a collection of small paintings that were presented to his wife, Jean, as Valentines' Day presents.
All paintings included in the exhibit are on loan from local collectors.

I have seen this show "in person" and Mr. Kavenek's paintings are beautiful. You get such a peaceful feeling while viewing.
What a beautiful tribute to a talented man. It's always nice to see our past
town members honored in such a way.
