This is where she developed a love for using lots of materials in her work. Now she is busy wrangling my busy two year old and scraping some time together to keep creative with not only her own work, but projects from the artist collective she belongs to.

The focus in the drawings are the relationships conveyed through the body language of the subjects to either each other or their surroundings. Leila enjoys working on a small scale because of the intimacy one can get from being able to hold art in the hand. Her great grandfather, Sumner Kinsley, was a well-known painter and illustrator, her grandfather, Rex Beisel, an innovative designer of aircraft, and two aunts, painters of note. There never was a time or a doubt in Ms. Proctor's mind that she would become an artist herself, and in 1978, she received her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design and Printmaking.

Following an intensive workshop with artist Randall Enos, she spent time exploring the medium of block print collage, a process which involves printing numerous colored editions of an image on various types and colors of paper, then disassembling and reassembling individual parts to bring them back to a finished whole.

An innovator herself, Ms. Proctor has experimented in various other media from pastels to oils to pen and ink. But the thematic content of her work has been consistent - interpretations of the threatened, ever-changing natural landscape and it's flora. In addition to rendering native plants, shrubs and trees, many years of illustration the Oliver Nurseries catalog, gave her an opportunity for great intimacy with ornamental plants and sharpened her skill ot render them with great sensitivity and botanical accuracy.

Her pen and ink illustrations have appeared most recently in Gardening for a Lifetime by Sydney Eddison (Timber Press 2010) and in Eddison's earlier book, Gardens to Go (Bullfinch Press, 2005) and in numberous catalogs, newsletters and advertisements for Oliver Nurseries of Fairfield, CT and Twombly Nursery of Monroe, CT.

Her work has been shown in galleries throughout the Northeast, recently earning a first place award for pastel from Richter Association for the The Arts in Danbury, CT.

Sheila Tintera Art Show October 2010

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 156px; height: 200px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_BATM1o14Yxw/TKYGSCXW-CI/AAAAAAAAAEQ/LthySrNLUYw/s320/Sheila+2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5523108899958749218" />

In 1969 Sheila began her art studies at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, followed by several years at Silvermine School of Art in Norwalk. Karin is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology and Albertus Magus College. She worked for many years designing patterns for various textile companies. Later in her career she became a therapeutic recreational director in a life care facility. Karin feels the "arts" are such wonderful healers and has used her art to help people feel connected to life.

Karin's art work is considered "eclectic" for she enjoys creating not only representative painting but paints in decorative and abstract styles as well. Often, she is asked if all the paintings are hers, because she paints in so many styles and medias. Her paintings will often include people, decorative themes, shapes and "lots of color." She particularly enjoyed creating a series of "Art Deco Ladies" which are fun and lively. "Everything that surrounds me ultimately affects my inner love to paint. I'm always searching for ways to express my art and hope my paintings bring color and joy into people's homes."

Karin is a member of the Washington Art Associations, the Watertown Art League, and the Kent Art Association. She exhibits her work in area art shops. Many of her paintings have been acquired by various collectors. She is currently is illustrating a children's book.

Candlewood Camera Club

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 211px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_BATM1o14Yxw/S70UP9viqfI/AAAAAAAAADw/TwJwg1Be7IA/s320/F_Lorri_Freedman_Cat.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5457540587947469298" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 274px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_BATM1o14Yxw/S70Smv__xqI/AAAAAAAAADo/5ocQQe3O4jo/s320/Bill-Shellings-NECCC-3rd-place-Spring-2010.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5457538780372125346" />

The Art Show at Burnham Library for the month of April is by the
Candlewood Camera Club.

The Candlewood Camera Club exists as a non-profit organization for the good of the community and all photographers, to foster photography as an art, a hobby, or a vocation, by instruction and by sharing of knowledge and experience.

We meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the Danbury Park & Rec Banquet Hall; 7 Hayestown Rd., Danbury. An artist always enjoys a pat on the back and vote of approval, plus a sale of his work, knowing that it will have a prominent place in a new home.

Home for the Holidays

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 252px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_BATM1o14Yxw/SvL24t2GKNI/AAAAAAAAACw/AJTyw_LiihM/s320/Anne+Harriet+Carew.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400650357410244818" />

An exhibit of winter artwork by fifteen artists. He served in Viet Nam and was awarded the Purple Heart. When he returned to the states he completed his studies at college.

Marc's love of photography began when he was a child. His neighbor, who was editor on the city desk for UPI handed him an Exakta SLR, and taught him the basics of photography and photo developing. From 1980 through 1985 he photographed various jobs for the firms of motorcycle manufacturers: BMW, Moto Guzzi, La Verda, and Ducati. He also photographed the quarterlies and annual reports for Remington and Colt, and did work for Revlon and Max Factor.

His love for photography and his extensive education in engineering and physics blossomed into a full time business of camera, microscope, and computer repair. His photographic skills have found a home through the formation of an artist's consortium with Alisyn Hamilton, Walter Von Egidy, and Cynthia O'Connor. This resulted in the company A THOUSAND WORDS.

Marc currently resides in Bridgewater, where he is active as an EMT. He also sits on the Zoning Board of Appeals.

http://www.thousandwords.us/

Joanne Conant July 2009

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 252px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_BATM1o14Yxw/SlUfLKJFbjI/AAAAAAAAACg/KT5gs0M-0Ko/s320/girl+seashell+background.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356221608388554290" />

Joanne Conant is an artist residing in Newtown, Connecticut. Raised in Roxbury, Connecticut, Tina expresses her love of the New England countryside in her watercolor and oil paintings of old barns, landmarks and natural settings. She also enjoys painting floral and still life compositions, as well as commissioned house portraits.

She has brought her fine art skills to the world of decorative painting, having embellished marble tiles and painted furniture with intricate renderings of flowers and Celtic themes. On a larger scale, she has completed several room size murals in area homes and businesses, creating scenes that transport the viewer to a Jamaican beach or the hills of Tuscany.

She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut, and studied painting, sculpture and photography in Lacoste, France under the direction of Sarah Lawrence College.

"My paintings capture moments that I observe in the world around me: ice melting on a pond, sunlit flowers in the garden, or just picked fruit on a fall day. As I develop a painting, I am concerned with how light reveals form, how color creates harmony, how detail discloses texture. My work evokes a quiet, peaceful sense of place and things."

Tina is a member of Kent Art Association, Washington Art Association and the Society for the Creative Arts of Newtown. She has participated in juried and group shows, and has held several solo shows. The Club meets twice a month at the VFW Hall in Danbury, 5 Byron St., between Rte. 6 (Newtown Rd.) and Triangle St., just over 1 mile west of WalMart and the Holiday Inn in Danbury. The first meeting of each month, on the 2nd Tuesday, is set aside for a competition between members' color slides and prints, including digital, color, or black and white. The second meeting, on the 4th Tuesday of the month, varies greatly each month, ranging from instructional sessions, to field trips, to group workshops. The Candlewood Camera Club was founded in 1948 and is a member of the New England Camera Club Council and the Connecticut Association of Photographers, and actively participates in programs and competitions in these organizations.

The Smalls Exhibit

<img style="display:block;
